The Tamarac Turkey Trot is $30 right now, $35 after October 30, and $40 after November 18 - and there is no race-day registration at all. That's Thanksgiving morning, 7:30a at Tamarac City Hall, 46th year running, and it's one of about a dozen dates in our new holiday guide covering Coral Springs, Parkland, Coconut Creek, Tamarac and Margate. Also in there: Parkland Snowfest is Dec 17, $20 a child, residents only, and they don't sell tickets at the door. Read it here

The Coconut Creek Hometown Market (Saturdays, Township Plaza) and the Tamarac Community Farmers Market (Sundays, Tamarac Park) are listed above with hours and addresses, and the guide has what each one actually does well. NEW IN TOWN
Gary Rack's Farmhouse Kitchen — The Boca and Delray restaurateur's third and largest Farmhouse landed in the new Cornerstone development on North University, and it's the first restaurant in town that makes that block feel like a downtown: apartment towers close on both sides, an open-air bar, a wraparound patio, murals, and an expo kitchen run by executive chef Demetrio Zavala, a multi-time Food Network champion. The move is the happy hour: daily 3p to 6p, half-off drinks, a half rack of ribs for $16, Coal Mine wings for $9, and a meatball the size of a softball for $10.
